SquashBusters

SquashBusters is a sports-based youth development program that uses a combination of squash and fitness, academic enrichment, community service and mentoring to improve the lives of Boston, Lawrence and Providence youth.

SquashBusters' mission is to challenge and nurture urban youth - as students, athletes, and citizens - so that they can recognize and fulfill their greatest potential in life. SquashBusters aims to ensure that all of its graduates:

  • Enroll in and successfully complete college
  • Understand and embrace life-long habits of health and wellness
  • Develop a deep sense of character and personal integrity

SquashBusters was founded in 1996 by Greg Zaff, a former squash professional, with the aim of leveling the playing field for underserved youth and helping them lead healthy, successful lives. Since its inception, SquashBusters has served more than 1000 youth. Ninety-eight percent of SquashBusters program graduates have enrolled in college, and all have been able to do so affordably. Within six years, 70% of those alumni graduate with a Bachelor’s degree.

In 2012, we expanded to Lawrence, where we are now fully enrolled with 100 students in grades 6-12. SquashBusters has also recently launched a brand-new program in Providence, thanks to a facility partnership with Moses Brown School - adding a third New England city to SquashBusters’ reach.

SquashBusters’ incredible success has served as the catalyst and program model for an international movement that is improving the lives of thousands of urban youth in more than 20 cities worldwide, including New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Baltimore, Oakland, Houston, Toronto, and Johannesburg.

SquashBusters is thrilled to be an official charity of the Boston Athletic Association for the 2020 Boston Marathon. Funds raised from the Marathon Team will directly support SquashBusters programming for Boston youth and their families.

Officially qualified participants who are already entered in the 127th Boston Marathon that wish to raise funds for SquashBusters may still do so using the learn more button below.
